Panelists for “How to get into the Motion Picture Industry in Alberta”

Here are the panelists for the Industry Panel this Sunday April 30 at 2pm at Calgary Expo.

Katt Panic

Katt was professionally trained in makeup at the John Casablanca Institute of Makeup, and has a background in costume construction and fashion design.

Katt found her calling working in indie horror movies, such as Breakdown Lane and BloodMania. She has since branched out to work on many made for TV movies, establishing herself as a head of department for features such as Rent a Groom, Hearts Creek, Secrets in the Wilderness and  A Home for the Holidays. Katt has also worked on numerous sets and commercials such as CBC’s HUDSON, and ET Canada, The Last of Us, and Billy the Kid.

James Reckseidler

James Reckseidler is one of the top independent director/producers working within the Treaty 7 region.

Considered a true auteur with his imaginative and creative style, as a director and screenwriter, James’ award-winning films have screened at film festivals globally over the past 15 years.

He also works tirelessly to support and develop independent creators and filmmakers, through his current role as Production Director at the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, where he previously has worked in the role as the organization’s Executive Director.

His heavily anticipated full -length feature film ‘Ties That Bind’ is slated for release in the Fall of this year, and he is currently also working in the role of Associate Producer on the Lithium Studios/Periperia Films  production ‘In Cold Light,’ scheduled to begin filming in Alberta in late June.

Pardeep Sooch

Pardeep Sooch is an Actor and ACTRA member based in Calgary Alberta who has been acting in film, television, and commercials for nearly 7 Years. Pardeep got his start in the film industry on a whim by wanting to be an extra in a TV show just to try it, and it has since gone on to play roles/co-star in movies and television shows; most notably Wynonna Earp, Don’t Say It’s name, and The Last of Us.

Brock Skretting

Brock Skretting is the Calgary Member-At-Large for DGC Alberta and has been working in the industry for about 10 years. He has worked in both production office and assistant director positions and is passionate about seeing new people join the industry and the Alberta film industry grow. Credits include Wynonna Earp, Interstellar, and The Revenant. 

Scott Lepp

Scott Lepp has more than 200 episodes of network television experience. He was most recently the Producer of APTN’s  hit series TRIBAL and is Executive Producer of three feature films currently in production in 2023; HAILEY ROSE, COLD ROAD and FAULTLINE. 

Scott was previously Associate Producer and Digital Producer for CBC’s HEARTLAND and served on the board of directors for the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Association (AMPIA). He continues to serve on the board of directors for the Okotoks Film Society.

Scott is President of independent production company Iylond Entertainment whose latest feature HAILEY ROSE begins its festival release in fall 2023. Iylond’s first feature ICE BLUE was released theatrically across Canada and is available on Amazon Prime and Tubi. Ice Blue garnered several festival awards including Best Canadian Feature: Regina 2018, Best Feature Director: LA Femme Los Angeles 2017 and Audience Favourite: Blue Whiskey Chicago 2018. Iylond Entertainment produced two digital original series released in 2019, HUDSON for CBC Gem (6×10) and REALIZATION (4×10) for Telus Originals.

Scott spends his free time reading and learning about finance, psychology and filmmaking. He loves mentoring emerging filmmakers and hanging out with family. Scott graduated from Vancouver Film School and now lives in Okotoks, Alberta with his wife, Crystal, and two children, Iyla and London.
